ATHENS, Ga. — University of Georgia wide receiver Rodarius "Rara" Thomas was arrested early Friday morning on multiple charges of family violence. Thomas faces a felony charge of second-degree cruelty to children and two misdemeanor counts of battery. He was booked into the Athens-Clarke County Jail at 3:20 a.m. and remains in custody without bail.
The charges stem from a domestic incident reported around 1:35 a.m. Friday. Police responded to a call and subsequently arrested Thomas at the scene (FanBuzz) (FOX Sports).
This is Thomas' second arrest related to family violence since joining the Georgia Bulldogs from Mississippi State. In January 2023, he faced similar charges, including felony false imprisonment and misdemeanor battery, which were later dropped as part of a pretrial diversion agreement (DawgNation) (11Alive).
Following his recent arrest, Thomas has been suspended indefinitely by Georgia head coach Kirby Smart. The university's athletic department has stated that they will not comment further on the pending legal matter (11Alive).
