Yoshinobu Yamamoto Officially Enters MLB Free Agency

Yoshinobu Yamamoto, one of the best pitchers in Japan currently, has just hit free agency.

Where could he potentially go though?

After playing with the Orix Buffaloes for seven seasons now, both came to terms to allow the young ace to make his move to major league baseball after a tough series loss against the Hanshin Tigers.

“I’d like to thank my team for accepting my request” said Yoshinobu.

Yamamoto isn’t a new name to baseball fans, back in March of this year, he was putting up amazing numbers during the World Baseball Classic:

- 7.1 IP

- 2.45 ERA

- 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB

- 0.82 WHIP

These averages made him one of the best starting pitchers during the entire series.

Not only that, but the pitcher is creating an incredible baseball career for himself, being a WBC Champion, Olympic Champion, and NPB Champion.

He hasn’t lost a single game he has pitched. Ever.

What does his future hold now though?

Yamamoto is ranked second best on the free agency market, right behind Shohei Ohtani. We can expect a handful of teams to go after the pitcher, considering he is one of the best arms currently.

The top 3 teams he could likely sign with are the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets, Or The Boston Red Sox. Or could the talented pitcher take his talents elsewhere?

Now that the signing period is upon us, let’s see where the marquee free agents land.

Yamamoto to the Giants? Will the Dodgers look to add their pitching staff? Will the Orioles add to their young and up and coming team?

We’re in for an exciting off-season.
